moving on

My parents are moving.
My mom, a professional interior designer, did an amazing job with this house. It's really is a work of art.
While I was over there today, I thought I'd snap a few pics of my favorite little details.
My family has always moved around a lot so none of us were super surprised when my parents decided to relocate only a few months after finishing a total remodel overhaul with this house.

You see, my mom and dad like to play this game called Move-Into-A-New-House-Remodel-The-House-And-Then-Move-Into-Yet-Another-New-House.
(Side note: Growing up, I mostly hated this game. But now I'm stronger for it. So, I guess, in the end, it's an OK game.)

No one in my family ever gets attached to houses but I will admit that I'll be sad to see all this beautiful house-ness be sold.

Actually...

I'm already over it. :)

So farewell, Salt Lake City house.
I only technically lived in you for the first two years when you weren't much of a looker. But you've since cleaned up nicely and I think my parents have lived in you for longer than any other house.

Congrats.

That's the same game my parents played growing up (my dad is in the kitchen and bath design business). I love all the details! Your mom is very talented. :)

I love this house! Can your mom decorate my apartment? Green cupboards? Mustard yellow couch? Beautiful painting under a candelabra? Yes please to all of the above!

It's beautiful. My husband and I play that game to we have been married for almost 13 years and have moved 8 times. I am however tired of being gypsies. Ha.ha. we just haven't found our house match yet ya know!

The art in there is so much fun!

My brother and his wife are playing the house flipping game, too. They seem to think it'll be fun to remodel a house with 3 kids.

The details look beautiful, i don't think i'd like doing that very much though. Growing up. That must have been tough? No?

I can't imagine moving all the time. My parents have been in the same house for the last 17 years.

That is a beautiful house! I've only ever moved twice and I've lived in my home for a majority of my life so once I move out, I'm going to have a crying fit

I like your mom's style. And envy your un-attachment to the house. Secretly, I'm a very sentimental person. I'd be a wreck.

That's not a game I played in my childhood, so I'm a little jealous! House looks amazing but I'm sure they'll make the new one totally their own as well :)

those paintings of you girls are absolutely beautiful! i am so jealous i do not have siblings to do a collection like that. it would look really silly with just four paintings of my mug hanging on the wall.

Haha my mum and dad played this game too! Almost like clock work we would move every two years. At one point I believe there were 3 houses at once; one we lived in, one that had just been done up and was being rented out and one that was being renovated.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the painted portraits of you girls. I dream of one day being able to afford getting portraits of my family painted just like the ones your parents have so I can give them to my mum as a present - she would probably cry (happy tears, of course - I am not that evil! :))

Wow! Thanks so much for sharing these pictures. Your mom truly has incredible style!

And that is so funny about the "game" your parents play. I'm not surprised they stayed in this beautiful house the longest! :)
