sweet home

(image sources found here)

my little sister, sarah, and her family recently bought their first home. she's been slowly decorating it and making the space her own and it's been so fun to watch her house come to life. seeing her pick out couches and paint colors makes me excited for the time when chas and i buy a house...whenever that may be. i'd be lying if i said i didn't wish that time were sooner rather than later.

isn't it strange how as soon as we get something we want, like the cutest baby girl in the world, that we immediately start looking to the next thing in life for satisfaction? why is it so hard to just be totally and completely content? am i the only one who's a lunatic in this way?

here's to being happy in the moment and grateful for the present.
(and to brief moments of escapism via pinterest)

cheers.

amen to that! i think it's because we live in such a driven society that once we've achieved something we're looking for the next thing. here's to being present!

love the pictures.. enjoy your moments of happiness.. America makes us believe that everything will be better..when... don't get caught up!

Your family is beautiful.. enjoy it fully!

Cheers,
Amanda

I am the SAME WAY, Sam. I constantly have to remind myself to enjoy the PRESENT!

Your thoughts made me think of a Longfellow poem--"A Psalm of Life" where (among other things) he says something like: "enjoyment and not sorrow is our destined end or way/ but to live tomorrow further than today/ let us then be up and doing with a heart for any fate/ still enduring still pursing learn to labor and to wait" Sometimes I think of content as a state of calm and for lack of a better term "doing nothingness." But I have found I usually enjoy "the now" the most, and perhaps am the most "content" while I am working toward something.

Okay, I definitely need that chalkboard wall one day. And I love the "for like ever" print. Gosh, eternal families are so wonderful. Decorating is exciting! Can't blame you for wanting your own space...but at least you can decorate vicariously through pinterest and your sister.

I am just like that, I'm not even close to own my house but in my mind I just know how it's going to look, I just can't wait!

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I struggle with that too.

All your posts make me sad we don't live near each other!
