the best feeling ever!

a few days ago, chas and i accomplished a HUGE goal that we've been working on for the last three years. we finished paying off allllll my student loans from grad school! i cannot tell you how blessed we feel to now be completely out of debt. we are so excited to not have to give away huge chunks of money every month and finally be able to start saving towards things like a house down payment and maybe a fun little trip to italy or something!

we don't make tons of money and the amount of loans i had was pretty sizeable. also, during this time we didn't have health insurance and paid for all of my maternity care and hero's birth completely out of pocket. if we can do it, you can do it too!

our secret?

shove every single bit of extra money towards the debt. everything.
try get by with less, put off that fun vacation, share one car, etc.
obviously, not rocket science but it really does work! and the feeling of accomplishing your goal is amazing!

This is so inspiring! My hubby and I are working through Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover and we are slowly paying off all of our debt. Our friends and family think we are crazy (and CHEAP) but we don't care! Can't wait to be debt free! Congrats!

Congrats!

I've deferred mine twice, because I have been unemployed and probably will continue to do so, until my credit cards are paid off. I'm 26. My goal is to have my credit cards AND student loans paid off by age 30-31.

Awesome accomplishment! Whoo hoo!! I've never have debt yet, because I've never had to deal with student loans, but I can imagine how much of a relief that is for you!
And wow, no health insurance with the baby? I didn't know that. I myself don't have health insurance right now, and that's just for me. That's pretty great of you to have to do that with your daughter. I know you HAD to do it with your daughter, but still that's admirable. And good to know that you can do it out of pocket too!

Have a great weekend. xo.
